Hi

Im thinking of buying a new house in Hollystown Dublin 15. I am not familiar with this part of Dublin and I am hoping to get some feedback an the Hollystown, dublin 15 area

Lovely developments and real value for money but it feels very isolated. The estates are off dark country roads. Would you be relying on public transport? It's near Tyrellstown so you could use the amenities there.

Another thing to keep in mind is that its under the flight path for dublin airport so you'll hear a lot of planes first thing in the morning. Have a search, there is threads about Hollystown on AAM.

Also I read in local papers that the builders as you probably know are open to offers so bargain hard! Good luck

Thanks stephen , they certinaly are good value for money, which makes me wonder about the general area, I dont rely on public transport so the fact that its isolated doesnt worry me too much as myself and my partner both drive. I have mentioned it to a few friends, who seem to be of the opinion that Hollystown is not situated in the nicest of areas? Im concerned that there is a lot of crime in dublin 15?

While it is close to the likes of Mulhuddart, you're unlikely to see any trouble makers as its far enough to keep them away. Tyrellstown is sandwitched in between the two also.

Another thing to keep in mind is the traffic at rush hour due to the near by business parks so the Snugborough road can be busy at times.

If you have kids you might want to check out what the local schools are like and what catchment area you fall under.

While Dublin 15 has its dodgy areas Hollystown definitely wouldn't be one of them. Have a drive around the area day and night and see what you think.

I've lived in Dublin 15 all my life and I love it here so I maybe biased.

Previous thread might be of help

thanks for the info, will defo take a spin in that direction over the weekend to put my mind at rest do you reccomend any nearby schools?

Nearby national school in Kilbride, but I don't know what catchement area Hollystown would fall into. There must be national schools in Tyrellstown.

Shine...has the price of these houses been reduced??

I suggest you read derek brawns new book. I have just finished it. Be very careful with you hard earned cash. Offer at least 20% below the price they are selling at even if that is the price they have been reduced to. Its a buyers market.

I saw the value in these houses over a year ago, and decided to investigate. Having played a round of golf in Hollystown GC soon after, I decided to forget all about it. The noise is simply unacceptable imo, although I know people there seem to say you would get used to it.
Its every plane, about every 5 minutes, lasting about 30 seconds. We were walking the fairways side-by-side and literally could hear each otehr talking. As a frequent flyer, I can say its not just early morning; its virtually 24-7.

When it comes to property, its always value-for-money for a reason.
