I am wondering if anyone would be able to reckommend someone that can help me with tax issues, my whole money situwation is very grim and it is really getting me down and I need help from a profeesional who can help me go throught the figures. I don't really want to go into my life story as I know everyone is having a hard time at the moment.
If money is too tight to pay an accountant, and tax issues are not technical, it might be worth your while approaching Revenue directly for assistance? They don't dispense advice and have no obligation to assist you in maximising your tax entitlements, but they just might be a handy first port of call.
Have you tried MABS? If you're self-employed ask them about CAVA (Chartered Accountants Voluntary Advice) which is offered through MABS.
I've no idea about the quality of MABS' advice, and I'd say it varies from centre to centre, but having an objective viewpoint may help put some perspective on things.
Perhaps your local citizens may be able to get you started and prepare you for a visit to revenue. Give them a ring and ask them for a suitable day to talk to someone about tax and related issues.
