Help with Digital Pictures

Having taking loads of snaps recently on my digital camera my laptop memory was filling up quickly so I resized the photos in an effort to reduce the space they were taking up from roughly 2MB per picture to 35kb.
I brought them to the store today to print them off but the results are bad. Resolution on pictures is quiet poor and blocky.

Even worse news is that when I was resizing them I took the option to remove the original copy and have also deleted them from my camera.

Is there anything I can do to improve the images when I print them off? Can I resize them back to normal?

Any help appreciated. Gutted on this one.

Re: Help with Digitial Pictures

Did you erase them from the camera?

If not, do you know how to import them to your lap-top again?

If you deleted originals from laptop and erased them from the camera, then they are lost, I'm afraid, unless you know someone with high-end software to resurrect them for you from the camera.

When resizing and / or compressing photos there is a compromise between the physical size of the image in mb's or kb's and resolution (image quality and colour depth). Once a low-res image is produced, you cannot go back from it to a high-res image as the high-res information is no longer stored in the physical low-res file (despite what you might see in the movies).

I more or less discovered the same info on the internet, I'm goosed .

What a [opps] disaster.

If you know someone with high-end processing software they may be able to rescue them for you. If you chose to erase them from the camera, in reality they are not erased, the camera has just torn up the index to where they are exactly and some or all of this information may still be available.

You could try something like Zero Assumption Recovery http://www.z-a-recovery.com/digital-image-recovery.htm

Re: Help with Digitial Pictures

If you only deleted the pics form your cameras' memory but haven't 'overwritten' them by taking new photos they are not lost...yet. This happened to me. I went to Conns Cameras (off Grafton St.) and it only took a few seconds (with their software) to bring the images back from the dead.

Thanks for all the info, and the GF has being quite understanding about the whole thing.

I'm not really in a position to get to a store with this high-end software, living abroad in Jamaica.

What about recovering the original photos from my laptop's memory? I emptied the recycle bin (being very thorough ) but is there a way to still recover them?

Will do. PMU that looks to be the job. I will give it a go tonight and see how I get on. Thanks for the help regardless.

There are loads of image recovery utilities available. You could also try PC INSPECTOR Smart Recovery from Convar: [broken link removed]
