Help with completing CAT form IT382

There are two questions on this form that have me confused in respect of an inheritance..

Date of gift/inheritance. =
State the valuation date. =

Is the date of inheritance the date I actually received the money from the proceeds of the estate or the date of death of the person leaving the money?

I received two sums of money at different times during the year from the estate.

Is the valuation date the date that Probate was granted?
