Hi Guys need help asap.

the water mains pipe has burst up road from my house. im not in house till later this evening but the heating is on auto to start before i get in.

Will this cause damage as theyve shut off mains water till they repair pipe.

Very very unlikely, no need to worry.

The heating system only calls for water when the level drops in it. If it is an open system there will still be water in the header tank in the attic.
If it is a closed system, these are normally topped up manually, so a burst mains will have no immediate effect on this.

Hope this puts your mind at rest.

yes thanks.
my oh says we to stay at their mothers 2nite as heating cant be used as we will be using taps toliet etc so water wont be replaced in system is this correct?? .
Not looking forward to the stay to be honest!!

Your heating CAN be used, without any worry whatsoever.

The top-up tank for the heating is separate from the domestic tank in the attic and unless your system has a leak the heating can be used for many weeks without any problem.

The same water stays in the heating system all year round.
