Heavy Duty Metal Bay Rail anyone?

I am thinking of putting in a new curving white metal bay rail and do not want to go down the alternative plastic rail or copper pipe rail solutions.

However, after a visit to Homebase left me gasping at the prospect of forking out nearly €500 + for the metal one, ( €125 just to fit it alone, thats on top of €40 for measuring up and they won't sell it to you without their fitter fitting it) does anyone know of any where or anyone else who does this item at a reasonable cost? I know Frawley's in Thomas Street used to do them but they are unfortunately gone out of business

I got one in Clery's about 10 years ago. Think it cost about 200 punts at the time, so probably more than you're talking about now. But worth checking with them.

I'm in the market for one of these as well so await replies with interest. Hickeys Home Focus have 20% off the rails until 18 Jan. They have the same deal with charging for measuring and fitting and didn't ask if there's a discount on this part of the service. Their best rail is €45 per foot before the discount - I know I nearly had to be picked up off the floor as well!

Sorry folks, it was Homefocus I was referring to , not Homebase.

I was in both stores the same day hence my confusion being I wrote this post late at night. The cost of measuring and fitting in Hickeys is fixed so no change out of €165 before we even come to cost of the materials themselves. The Homebase stores don't do anything as complex as metal curved rails, probably because the demand isn't there for them. Newer houses in the main, don't have Bay Windows.

I've been into most of the main stores in town and most of them just do straight rails, again I guess because the demand is mainly for straight ones.

I think that Frawley's used to bring their rails to ?? an Ironworks for curving somewhere close to them. I'm presuming they have some toolage for curving metal safely there. Does anyone know any further information on this???
