Hi all

I have a house which has gas heating with timed zones
(ie. one for up stair, one for down stairs and for hot water) The problem is that when i have one of the zones on the other zones comes on as well even though it isnt suppose to,

Can any one shine some light on this and how to fix this,

Thanks

Hi Davyjones

The other half pushed the boost button this morning for the water and the upstairs and downstairs rads came on even when they werent timed

Thanks

unlikely anything is wrong with motorised/zone valves.

you have a three channel time clock? three seperate timers on one clock?
Did they all light up when you OH pressed the boost button? and has this only happened once?

Hi Davy

no the boost button under the water section was only on, The other two zones were off but the rads were hot,

The timer is one that can be put on 3 times a day on each zone so i think it is a 3 channel timer

Do you know where the motorised valves are? They are a valve with a motorised box on them. You may have three. Is there a light on them showing that they have current to them?

This may be caused by a few things, you may need a plumber to check it out.

Hi Davy

I know the box you are talking about ill check it later on

Thanks again

sound like the system is wired wrong. if the switch wires are going to the relays in the motorised valves you can get a back feed. you need an electrician to sort it out.

I am assuming that the system has worked correctly up until recently.

How old is the system?

A good electrician that is used to heating controls or a plumber/heating installer should be able to pin pt problem when on site. It is a difficult one to diagnosis without seeing.
