There are 2 alternative options with VHI to consider, similar cover but with an excess to pay if they are admitted to a private hospital for a stay
or for a day case procedure.
1. VHI HealthPlus Excess; price 1879pa. same hospital cover as before, excess to pay 75 per admission and 75 per day case procedure.
2. VHI Health Access; price 1756pa; same hospital cover as before, excess to pay 125 per admission and 125 per day case procedure.

If they were open to switching providers, I would recommend the 2 Laya plans that you were considering;
1. Laya Care Select; price 1556pa;(january price); extra cover including a private room in a private hospital fully covered, Better day to day cover,
75% refund for consultants, gp visits, dental etc.
2. Laya Simplicity plan; price 1370pa(january price); Extra cover including a private room in a private hospital fully covered. Same day to day cover.
Capped excess at 100 x 2 per year for all private hospital admissions. Day case excess 50 per procedure.
