Heat Recovery Ventilation and Underfloor heating

Hi

I'm thinking of installing a heat recovery ventilation system in a new build and will also be using underfloor heating.
I've recently been advised not to use both systems as the underfloor heating needs to be on for long periods to heat the home and the outcome will be overheating as you cannot simply turn off the heating system and then just switch back on when it gets chilly again.
Has anyone experience combining both - is the heat recovery system worth the investment?

If I had to lose one of them I'd lose the UFH to be honest.

You could consider using a room sealed wood stove etc. for "point heat", as you say UFH has a long cycle time.

I'd recommend HRV every time, for air quality reasons if nothing else.

Out of interest, what heating system are you using to heat the home?
Do you find it difficult to regulate the heat?
Is your home a b-build/timber-frame/ICF or other - how did you seal the house?

We are on mains gas. We have two boilers, one for the UFH and one for the upstairs rads and DHW.

We basically have the UFH on the lowest settings, we get a reasonable amount of solar gain so don't need more than this. We have two wood stoves which we run all the time in winter.

It's b-build with insulated boards on external walls. It wouldn't be "sealed" as such, although I have taken the time to run extra sealant around window opes, sockets etc. Other people will have much better air tightness than us. I haven't had it tested.

The HRV we find great as we never have to have windows open. Due to the dust and the flies (oh God the flies) this has become a major boon, also the filters seem to take out much of the pollen.

Do you mind me asking what company you used for the HRV. Also do you mean by not opening windows that you don't have dust or flies?
