Heat Pump Fears

Am building a house and had decided to go with a heat pump and horz collector pipes - now we are at 1st fix stage and I am having a serious doubt as to whether I should go with heat pump or not. Thought I had all these decisions made. Company I was dealing with are hard tp pin down on some things in the last fwe weeks and I am feeling like thtrowing my hat at it and going a different route:

Now don't know what I am thinking -
(1)can a boiler do underfloor and rads at the same time?
(2) Can pellet stove do underfloow heating
(3) Anyone recommend a good company that could supply fit pellet stive for 3500 sq ft house?

Any advice appreciated

Hi, we looked at heat pumps also. Spoke with several people who had them and swear by them. In the end we weren't convinced and went with a pellet boiler, Windhager, supplied by Heatright based in Skibereen Co. Cork. We are delighted with the boiler, no issues or concerns, minimum maintenance and works fine with underfloor heating downstairs and a system requiring heat similar to rads upstairs. They are completely automatic if you want, but we went for storage in a bin over the boiler and it is more or less self filling.We don't have any connection with the company, just satisfied customers. We have had no issues with supply of pellets or availability at any time. ALl the best, optimistic

1. Yes.
2. Yes. Note your first choice (the groundsource) can only do underfloor.

I was in your position 3 years ago. I was concerned about my daube/clay soil type so I decided to install an oil burner which heats all three zones. (U/F, Rads upstairs and cylinder).

Boiler and oil tank cost less than a grand. My longer term strategy is use air to water pump on the UF circuit as this is the biggest energy consumer.

Over the summer I only have the Cylinder circuit on and it uses very little oil to heat 300ltr once a day. House stays at 20 deg without any heat source. Used kingspan all round so thats paying off.

I'm filling the 1300 ltr oil tank twice a year so far.
