Hearing more noise after installing rockwool..

We recently had rockwool put in the adjoining and internal walls of our house. But now we find that we can actually hear our neighbours more...not loud noises, things like wardrobe doors closing. We never had an issue with that before and wondered if anyone else had a similar experience.

The sound can be transmitted through the rockwool. Unless you have an air void against the wall you will not get a decent soundproofing.

The best recommended method of soundproofing is to build a stud within the room without any connection to the offending wall. The air space will dampen the sound which will be diminished by any insulation in the stud work.

Sound can also be transmitted through the floor joists as these are usually fixed back to back on a party wall. The noise vibrates in the timber.

Is there any way to dampen the sound transmitted through the joists without major work? That seems to be the main route of impact noise that goes between our house and next door
