My health insurance under my parents name, with VHI is up for renewal shortly and I am taking out my own policy this year.
I am going backpacking for a year starting in November and*would appreciate some advice on my options.
I will need travel insurance for the year, is there any point in getting health insurance as well, as I won't be in the country from November on.
Is it possible to get covered by VHI, Bupa or Vivas for a few months and cancel it then when I'm going or would it be in my best interests to get both health and travel.
The VHI travel insurance is very expensive compared to others, is it possible to get discounts on travel insurance if you already have health insurance.
