I transferred us dollars a month ago, I made a mistake but they sorted after a week or so. My mistake was to transfer the money first from the US account to currency fair. You actually have to create a transfer into currency fair first, when that transaction in is created, then you go to the outside account that you want to transfer out of and then transfer it out using your currency fair reference number, then wait a day or so until it appears in your currency fair accountWe have been using their services for about 6/7 years now to transfer my husband's Irish pension to our Canadian Bank account as we now reside in Canada. Since January, we've been having issues and things went haywire in February with our transfer which took a lot of emails ( they no longer answer their phone) to eventually get 21 days later.
Unfortunately, we used them for the March pension payment and are having had no luck, apart from one email saying that they're looking into it, seems our money is gone.
Yesterday, I Google their address and found that their offices are vacant and available immediately for lease.
I advised the Central Bank today, and fear that they are still taking money from people.
Anyone else have any information/ hope that we can get our money back?
Online, there are major red flags, no longer dealing in Australia, recent complaints similar to ours etc.

Not very hopeful...

Thank you Brendan. Am an ex-pat, it's harder to do these things when you don't have boots on the ground! Feel like I'm shouting "fire" but no one listening. There is a workaround.
To link tofor example, just put in something likeCode:www.irishtimes.com/
www irish times dot com
Users will understand that and we won't have a bad link.
If you are promoting your own website and you put in a broken link like this to get around the anti-spam measures, your post will be deleted and you will be banned.

Thanks! Also, Trustpilot reviews are of all currencies, everyone having the same problem. Not very hopeful...

I would also be concerned in that they are behind with their annual CRO
Also, after 21 days of runaround in February, (resulting in an investigation at our recipient bank because CF claimed on 3 occasions that our bank kept returning the funds) eventually, and for the first time, our money was wired, not the normal etransfer. Our bank's internal investigation established that the funds were only received once, on what we were led to believe was their 4th attempt at sending it. In other words, they've also changed their method of payment.I would also be concerned in that they are behind with their annual CRO
Hi Stephen,Hi
any updates on currencyfair please?
i sent them 1650 pounds last thursday. My wife sent 600 pounds. both to change to euro.
both exchanges are still pending on their site.
they wont answer calls/emails.
im frightened they have closed.
how can i get my money back??
i have been using them since 2015, never a problem.
but find it very strange they wont answer phones. money changes within 24 hrs normally.
i have bills pending on the 1st May. (ive started using 'Wise' today).
what can i do to get money back from currencyfair?
thanks
Stephen
Thanks.Hi Stephen,
Firstly, I'm sorry this is happening to you, the amount may not seem like a lot, but it is a lot to lose regardless. We did eventually get our money back, minus the 225 dollars for the cost of international calls from the repeated attempts to get our money back ( never got through). After many generic response emails from them, I eventually threatened them with legal action and the Irish Central Bank. I have no confidence in them and changed our transfer intermediary . They emailed us about a week ago with details of their new bank blah blah.
All that said, I only recently Googled them
Currency fair problems
Currency fair reviews
Would seem, in the main, deplorable still with the odd, in every sense, 5 star, glowing review.
In short, wouldn't touch them.
Like I said, we held on the line for ages, never getting to speak a person plus the emails. Seemed action was only taken after my legal threat. They "returned " the funds into our CF account and we immediately requested transfer back to originating bank, which they did. I feel you will get the money back, but doubtful for 1st May.Thanks.
No never going back to them.
I have already set up with Wise. I need to use some online system because of that damn border.
Hopefully it will bounce back it to account. It's still pending. Bank said give it 5 days. They said they will do a recall after that.

Fingers crossed for you!
I didn't tell them what laws that they had broken, but, at the time i thought they were folding and transferred my funds from my account to the black hole that they sat in for weeks, knowingly.hi Currencyunfair,
still no funds recieved. Had to use Wise to get money to the south to pay mortgages etc.
I see from a post above you said 'I eventually threatened them with legal action and the Irish Central Bank' - what way did you word this? did you put it in the email subject heading?
I would be afraid they may not even read emails.
what laws are they breaking?
thanks
Stephen

I said if my funds weren't back in my account (CF one first obviously) within 48 hours, i would be contacting my solicitor. Perhaps the threat of the Central Bank was worse or Perhaps, neither and it was just coincidence? Never got to speak with anyone.
