My husband and I have lived in Laois for six years now and have been getting Rent Supplement for nearly five years. We have just received a letter telling us to go onto the HAP scheme. Do we have a choice in this? Because it will take us off the waiting list for a house someday. Can we decline to join the HAP scheme or will they deny us Rent Supplement if we do? In which case we'll be off the list anyway. If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it, thank you .
