Wrong forum Hall table problem

I'm looking for a hall table or unit with drawers suitable for the hall, at the bottom of the stairs. However, all the pieces of furniture I have seen so far have sharp edges and I don't like the idea of having that type of furniture at the bottom of the stairs in case anyone fell down and hit their heads off it. Also the hall tables seem to be mostly decorative and do not have much storage space. Ikea do a unit that has lots of drawers but it is too long for my hall.
I wonder does anyone have ideas on where I could get a piece made to suit and then I could get a padded cusion made for the top of it; i would welcome any ideas. thanks.
