Help please....
I recently cancelled a gym membership with jackie skelly gym as I have moved to London... I joined in September 07 was a member for a year and rang up in September 08 to tell them i didnt want to renew my membership, i was subsequently told i had to give 3 months written notice and there is no renewal date on the membership!
I then cancelled my direct debit as I was not going to pay for 3 months i wasnt using it as i wouldnt be in the country!
I have been received threatening letters and voicemails- claiming it would affect my credit rating (which i know it wont as they are not a member of the ICB)
However now they now say that they have passed my debt to a collection agency and saying I owe the full years amount of €780, where do i stand legally?
I know that other gyms such as Total Fitness dont bother chasing this debt but I am a bit worried, thanks!
