Anyone else seeing millions of Greenfly (or similar) yesterday and today especially. Have never seen anything like it. Maybe they swarm like ants, on a certain day during the year or something....

Yep, I'm in Dublin and they were swarming in their thousands testerday, not so much today, probably a sudden change in temp/humidity causing the party.

Yup, lots of them. First time I have ever seen anything like this. Not as many ants about this year I notice?

How does one get rid of the greenfly?? They are going through my once beautiful hanging baskets, and destroying them. I have tried organic insecticide, washing up liquid spray, no difference. Is there anything else I can try? Are they likely to spread to other plants in the garden? They started on some Lupins which were completely destroyed - and they were quite a distance away from the current invasion.
thanks for any help or advice.

You could try crushing some garlic & popping it into water, & spray your plants. It may pong a bit but should also repel the greenfly.
