Grass Vs. Winter Wheat

Hi Folks,

I've decided to pursue a company to do some site works:
http://www.askaboutmoney.com/showthread.php?t=93245

The man has advised me that even though he hopes to start next week, it will probably be February/march before the whole job is completed , with test results included.

Just a quick question...
He has advised I could opt to sow grass back into the ground or winter wheat or possibly even barley.
This is probably gonna happen at the end of November at this stage.
Question for me though is which to use?
Which will grow back the fastest?
Which will help promote dryness in the field?
what's more manageable ?
He has told me that they will mow it and take away the bales, etc... to keep the site in visual order for the planners.
But he also wants to have the crop properly grow back, so when he carries out the perc. tests he can take photos of the proposed percolation for his report.
This adds another 6 weeks onto the job.
We kind of hoped to get things ASAP!!
Any advise??

hi Friday luck!

My advise is not to waste your money sowing anything on that site. Winter wheat or barley will be of no usse to you as it'll be probobly be impossible to get anyone to so it for you and totally impossible to harvest it in Aug.
AS for grass, you are better off waiting until your house is built as to so grass will cost you about 300 euro/acre and then you will have to sow lawn seed when the house is finished.
Let nature take her course!!
