My SIL bought an old house around 6 years ago. For the past year the septic tank has been overflowing into the garden and the drains in the house have been backing up. At this stage she is getting someone out to empty the tank every 2-3 months at €100 a pop. She doesn't have a huge amount of disposable income and was wondering if there is a grant available if she needs to get a new tank in. She has 2 kids and the house is becoming a health hazard at this stage. I was saying that she'd need to get someone out to figure out exactly what the problem is but don't know if a standard surveryor could do this.
