We bought a house in Co. Meath last year and the water quality was quite poor. We applied to West Meath County Council to be connected on to the mains water (our house had an individual supply). They sent out an inspector, and within a few weeks were connected to the water mains. We initially paid approximately 1300euro to West Meath County Council and a further fee (of approx 700) to labourers to connect the water, under the council's supervision.

I learned that it is possible for us to apply for a grant towards this work.
I have called the council in the past querying this, but they knew nothing about such a grant.
(I got this information from the following website-

Could you tell me how I can apply for such a grant?

Can anyone help me out on this one.....
I even called the dept of the environment and they weren't very helpful..

Can't find them on Meath County Council's website but it looks like some of the other Country Councils include the relevant grant application forms:

WG1 may be the one:

The DoE site says that you should contact the Rural Water Programme Liaison Officer at your local County Council but I guess you already tried that...
