Government Charges

I've just gone sale agreed on a €265k apartment. I was told by my broker that there would be government charges in the region of €800 to €1000.
What are these charges for and is this amount excessive? I'm a first time buyer. Thanks

Land Registry Fee for ale in excess of 255,000 euro but not in excess of 385,000 euro = 500 euro

Registaration of Mortgage with Land registry = 125 euro

Stamp duty on mortgage - If your mortgage is greater than 254,000 euro, duty is charged at 1 euro for every 1,000 borrowed.
So for 255000 that would be 255 euro

Total so far = 880

Probably also some other small land registry fees for certs and deeds etc

They get you every way!!
