Hi All,

I am doing a timber frame self build at the moment and was wondering if anyone can give me any suggestions on the best place to source the chimney.

I am also wondering if anyone can tell me if the chimney company will install it or if the brick layer normally does this?

If you want a conventional masonry chimney then it's a brick/ blocklayers job. Alternatively you could use a proprietary composite block with liner built in, but you still need a blockie.

schiedel.ie should be a good place to start. your whole chimney deliveredon a pallet and faster to erect than a conventional chimney.

If deciding for a central heating system running on a gas condensing boiler then you need no chimney at all. The flue pipe goes straight through the wall, similar to a kitchen hood . That makes the house cheaper to heat since the lack of a hole in the roof , the building costs are reduced considerable and the maintenance costs (chimney sweeping , soothy carpets and furnitures) are cheaper as well.
