Good NTL all-in deal - but phone is IP protocol?

NTL/UPC offering TV, phone and broadband for 44 euro pm in my area. Seems like a big saving. However, it says the phone is 'IP protocol' so if there is a power failure your phone line is dead. What other issues might there be with this? Is it like Skype where calls can drop out and quality might be really poor??

I have this deal for last few months and no problems so far..then again no power cuts so far! I also have a mobile which I would use in case of power cut

Have BB and TV no phone seems to be pretty consistent The odd time I have tried skype been impresssed.

Still have the mobile which the reason I didn't bother with the phone from NTL.

I wouldn't say its as good as landline. But its good enough. Should be better than Skype.

In my experience its as good as a landline, can't tell the difference.
