gmail account problem????

hi all

i bought a new laptop recently with vista,,

anyhow i notice that when i open any email on gmail that has an attachment i have a trouble,,

on the atatchment, if i go down load or save it just starts to run the dialog box,, this just goes on and on,,

presntly i am using a wireless connection in the hotel, if that means anything,,, just seems strange,,,

any ideas???????? thanks
 
Can't really offer any help to solving the problem.

If it's of any benefit (might help confirm it's not an obvious OS compatibility issue), I'm working on a new Vista laptop at the moment. No problem with gmail attachments downloading (through firefox, but tried IE also on reading the thread and no problems there either).

Is it just gmail this happens with? (e.g. have you tried opening an attachment through a hotmail/yahoo/etc. account?)
 
well on yahoo its fine come to think of it,, just seems to be on gmail, thing is i will probably enable outlook soon and avoid that..

thing is also,, if anyone can offer advice, i bought 2007 office,, just to have an updated version of word, but there is no outlook on the disc,, can i run my old 2003 office disk again and revert back to outlook 2003,,

Where i bought it told me that ,, out look is kind of gone now,, and that the new laptop has windows mail,, which is modern,,??????

i am no expert,, just need a laptop on a daily basis,, email, word , adobe ,, excel,,
 
I suspect that its a security config issue.

You can both versions of office installed at the same time.

Outlook is not gone, and who ever said that is at best clueless, but more likely they wanted to sell you the version without Outlook.
 
yeah, well you know what they ARE LIKE when they are selling you something,, ill install the other version of office when i can, prob next week,,

hopefully it is just security issue,, ill check when i am back in ireland on my 02 wireless modem thingy:)
