Getting tax back on repayment

Hi,

In 2011 I left a previous job where I was offered retention which I accepted and received.

However, I have sense moved job and now the previous company want the retention payment back.

How can I get a tax refund for tax I paid when I received the payment?

Presumably you have to redo your tax returns with a lower income and then they will issue a refund.
