Getting mortgage while on company sick pay scheme

Hi everyone,

Myself and the partner will be applying for a mortgage in the coming weeks. I earn about 100k and they earn about 50k.

Partner has been put on sick leave by the company due to an ongoing issue which will be fully resolved in time and they will be able to go back to work afterwards. This could be 6-12 months from now.

During this time her company (large and well established MNC) are paying her 50% of her wages until she returns. She has been formally notified of this and it is in their policy.

Now while we could wait until she is back to full pay before going for the mortgage we are eager to get started sooner than later for various reasons.

The amount that we are applying for will be less than 4x our combined income, even while she is on sick pay. Will the banks care she is on sick leave or will they just look at how much much is coming into her account from work each month and decide based on that? That is, will they consider her sick leave a risk or just look at the numbers?

Wondering if anyone has any experience they can share. Thanks.
