I have seen quite a few posts recommending getting local kitchen cabinet makers and that they can be quite price competitive. The one quote we did get was twice that of the paneling centre.

Is this to be expected for the bespoke kitchen? We are not looking for a high end kitchen but would like simple painted kitchen doors and need to take into account small part of the wall jutting out (structural support). We are in Dublin city.

Thanks

I think a bespoke kitchen will always be dearer than one from ,paneling centre/cash & carry/kitchen world etc I would guess its only a runner to get a cabinet maker to do the kitchen if you are looking for something a bit different

Thanks, I think you are right. We are looking for a painted wood kitchen (dark grey or black) and can't seem to find any unfinished doors in any or the mainstream irish dealers, that's why we were thinking of a cabinet maker.

Has anyone had any dealings with East Coast Cabinets?

Cheers

Hi Jessie,

My sister used this guy for some house improvements (i've used hiim for my flooring and a few small jobs too) and he's very good, his name is Lee and he's good at doing bespoke stuff, if you have a particular idea he will talk you though whether its feasible or not, some of the big kitchen companies would only give very fixed plans. worth giving him a buzz anyway its 087 6911650.

I know another bloke in Blanchardstown too who is supposed to be great, I'll ask my friend for his no for you.

Good luck!

I'm looking for the same thing and was also thinking of east coast cabinets. Did you find out anything about them? The painted freestanding units on their site look great. but I'd say they're expensive.

Hi, I had 2 wardrobes made by Joe in East coast cabinets. He did a brilliant job and was cheaper than the chipboard ones for sale in DUnnes! COuldn't recommend his workmanship highly enough. Saw a kitchen he was making in his workshop and that too looked very good.

I don't know if this is any use but a company called Kitchemwise has opened up a new showroom in Blanchardstown. I myself don't know alot about that kind of thing but my wife does as she works for a high end retailer with years of experience. She mentioned that the guy was very helpfull had a nice showroom and a good product range, he also does one off pieces. If you google the name I'm sure you'll get their details. I think this means that We'll be getting a new kitchen soon.
