Get hands on 2009 tax

Hi all

I was in a very well paid job in 2009 and paid a significant amount in tax - over €30k. This year due to altered circumstances I will pay very little tax. I have a lump sum of approx €50k available and was wondering if there was any investment or similar scheme available (eg BES) whereby the cost of the investment could be carried back so that some of the 2009 tax could be reclaimed.

If you want to save on tax you could pay some money into a pension and backdate it to 2009.

Thanks Tenchi fan - good suggestion but unfortunately need to get my hands on some cash this year. Will have to leave the pension for another day (or year!)
