I am in the process of trying to reclaim some of the 26.375% German government withholding tax on my dividend from shares in Siemens.
I have read the double taxation document on the Irish Revenue which implies that the maximum that should be withheld in Germany is 15%.
The maximum which I can reclaim would therefore be 11.375%. Does anybody know if this is correct.
I have downloaded a claim form from the German revenue website. This form needs to be stamped and signed by Irish revenue. Does anybody know how to proceed with this requirement with Irish revenue.
You are correct. You have to send the form to your Revenue office asking them to stamp and sign them. You then send them to Germany.
I haven't done this for Germany but have done it for France. The French form have to be signed by the Custodian in France as well as the Irish Revenue, so you may need to check this.
