Hi all,

excuse the ignorance but I just wanted to bounce off a few that know more than I do. Would now be a decent time to increase my AVCs i.e. to my limit.

I'm 53 and know that I'm a little away from retirement and because of our pensions are hitting a black spot which may take a while to recover seeing as this catastrophe could probably take a couple of decades to recover seeing as were looking at a Great Depression scenario ( from historical models) my question is what is the best course of action for someone with a DC pension. I have a lump some I would like to invest.

Any suggestions welcome. Again I'm just a Joe Soap looking for some info.

Thanks

Assuming you have a 12 year horizon as a member of a DC scheme then it’s hard to argue that a lump sum contribution now would be bad idea.

That said, there are many other considerations you need to factor so, if I were you, I’d get in touch with the scheme provider and ask them to run through some options for you. That’s what you’re paying them for after all!
