we bought this house 3 years ago and the previous owners have what looks like a flavel Regent life type gas fireplace in the sitting room (atleast thats what i think from looking up images of gas fireplaces until i found something similar
)..it took us awhile to get used to as it also seems to heat the water in the house when we flick an electric switch (which seems odd to me)...it makes the most peculiar tick tick "poof" (ignition sound) from underneath it, i think its pretty old looking and want to replace it with what looks like a more natural fireplace, one that sits into the wall and not jutt out like this one does, would it be best to get one from the same brand?? would it be a big job?? i'll be pulling apart some of the room as it is and may just try to change it with the rest of the room if i can afford it..i'll get links for images incase its hard to see what i mean
this one looks what is already installed but obviously this would be a newer model and i think this type is pretty common http://www.thegascompany.ie/iopen24/images/product_images/lg44b3721b3d0aa.jpg
and this is more the style i would like if at all possible
i probably should add as i said in a post before that i think this house is trying to kill us
...when doing work before in the kitchen we found a number of things done by the previous owners that were sooooo dangerous and i'm hoping the system here isnt a death trap also!
