Gas boiler questions

Have just started to use the Gas again after the summer(well summer months) and i have noticed that the pressure is about .4 bar when running (jumping to 2 bar after a few minutes) and outside i have noticed the overflow pipe(well thats what i think it is) is dripping, not much but slowly.

Any ideas what it could be and is there anything i can do?

Thanks in advance.

You pressure releif valve is blown. you will need it replaced and system investigated for cause. Not a DIYer job

If you system pressure is raising that quickly, either the boiler expansion vessel is under-pressured (isolate & drain boiler to test) and needs pumping up, or the shreader valve maybe leaking,or it has perished and will need replacing.

What will have happened most likely, the valve has leaked allwoing the expansion vessel to loose pressure, then when you fired the system, it went over 3bar pressure, lifted the pressure release valve allowing water out the vent pipe, when this happened the prv valve has had dirt/grit now stuck in its seating not allowing it to close again (will need to be replaced also) and end result is your system pressure is now down also.

Get a reliable/recommended serviceman out, should not cost the earth, and get the boiler serviced at the same time.

Anyother questions on this you can drop me a mail tony@oilburnerservice.com

Hope that help point you in the right direction.
