Garda driver - do I need a Leaving Cert?

I've recently taken early retirement, and saw a job advert for a Garda driver.

My problem is this - I don't have a Leaving Cert, and not much of an Inter either. Back in the days of old, it didn't matter as much then as it does now.

The application form is looking for details of my education, and in particular the exact grades for my Inter cert. I have no idea what I got in my exams in 1962 !! Is there any way for me to find out ?

Could I just put down a few Cs and Ds ?

Thanks all for your advice

Re: Garda driver - do I need a LC?

Can't you get a transcript of your results from the Department of Education?

He didn't do the exams so they won't have his results. Thta's the question; oes he need a LC to be a Garda driver. Logic would suggest that he doesn't but...

Its usually retired guards that get these posts, but they have to be advertised I would assume (equal rights etc).

I know a retired guard and he drives the judge around the country for the circuit courts.

As they say, if your not in you can't win!

He didn't do the LC, but he did do the IC (Inter Cert) which are the grades he's wondering about retreiving.

You should be able to get them from DoEducation as CM suggested.

So he is

Apply leaving those areas blank. Attach a covering letter with other is any relevant experience. That is what will count at this stage. Good luck with it.
