Gap between granite worktop and tiles

Hi,

We got our old cheap kitchen worktop replaced with granite last week, however, there is a big gap between the granite and the counter tiles. can you recommend what we need to put in to cover up the gap (1-2cm). the guys who did the granite accepts no responsibility and tell us to fill it in with grout (but this would easily become dirty). Any suggestions?

You could raise the height of the counter up to the tiles and replace the kick boards.

Normally there is a piece of granite which sits on top of the counter top vertically and tiling starts from above this so maybe you could do the same overlapping the bottom row of tiles if you not retiling and then seal the smaller gap with mastic sealant.
