Galway Water Solutions offering Kuna Reverse Osmosis System

We were thinking of using for the Swedish Kuna reverse osmosis water filtration system.I wonder if anyone has any experience of this system/company?

What kind of water do you have? What worries do you have about it? Have you tested it at an independant laboratory?

Have you seen the thread "Pure H2O" water filtration system - fact or myth? - about RO systems.

I got this company to filter my water. I had a new bore well and I got it tested at the lab in UCHG. The water was smelling really bad with sulpher and the test came back with a fair amount of bad stuff in it. I'm not sure of the make of RO he put in but I have no complaints so far. Got the water tested again earlier in the year (system was about a year in) and all was fine. Are you a new bore or on a scheme? Just curious why you only want the RO system? Just keep in mind the filters need to be changed at least once a year.

You won't temove sulphur with a reverse osmosis setup. You need a stroke pump and some hypochloride (bleach) to do that. It's messy and needs a fair bit of tweaking.
Did you not speak with the drilling company? They usually guarantee to provide you with a drinkable water supply, so maybe they drilled too deep (or not deep enough) in your case. Thye would be my first port of call in a situation like this.

Lollix, I presume your post is a reply to me. I didn't say that the RO got rid of the sulpher, only that the company (galway water solutions) were able to treat my water so that there was no more smell and the RO they installed (as part of the overall system) works fine. The RO is an addition to a system so the water can be consumed. The RO system that is in my house is American so I can't comment on the Swedish system.The OP asked about experience of this system/company. I think the sulphur was removed with some sort of copper granules. I could be wrong but I don't think there is bleach in my system.

Yep sounds good, but they seem very expensive here, I just imported my softener and RO from UK direct from a whole sale kinda place for halft the price, was ridiculously cheaper. Don take my word for it...do a google. Any plumber can install double quick, I did it myself thats DIY at the rite price

We don't like the taste of the water. It is a group scheme.

Presently we are using a Britta filter but there seems to be carbon granules coming throught the water albeit Britta say that this is food grade quality and ok to consume.

We are arranging to have the water checked independently to check constituents but have yet to discern what exactly is being checked for.

The galway based company have said this Kuna system is CE and ISO9000 certified along with other certifications.

They are charging around 750 euro for basic, 850 for one with booster and delux is over 1000 which has UV filter etc. Filter cost 75 euro per year.

We appreciate the group scheme is unlikely to have any significant bacteria etc but it still tastes poor, has flouride and is chlorinated, along with what ever other metals that may come from pipes etc.

The CE marking is mandatory, so that really shouldn't be a selling point! If a company is using it as such, I'd be wary. Ask them to supply the Declaration of Conformity which will specify what directives they are complying with. I wonder will any of them relate to water quality/purity?

ISO9000 is primarily concerned with business proceses, it does not certify any products.

RO water tastes insipid since everything has been removed! Some RO system dose the water with minerals to put the taste back in!

What is the source of water for your Group Scheme? It sounds like coco water supplied through the Group Schemes pipes (Flouride). However it may be that the group sheme source and disinfect and treat their own water?

Have you complained to the group or the coco about the taste of the water. have you asked them for copies of the water analysis? Does the water meet EU drinking water regulations?

I bought my 5 stage reverse osmosis system on ebay for less than 150 euros, and spare filters are cheap too. It isn't hard to install, I am not a plumber but installed it within a few hours.
These companies take advantage of people, making them seem more complicated than they actually are. As long as you maintain every 6 months, you get really good quality drinking for a fraction of the price of bottled water.
