I have just paid all the back payments for my uk pension and will be paying forward until I reach retirement age. My question is about tax implications for the future uk pension payments. I can apply for a Uk passport and set up a Uk current account, would this be advisable and get my uk pension paid into this .

Not really sure what you're getting at here but if/when you receive a UK pension and you are resident in Ireland and subject to tax here then the UK pension will almost certainly be assessable for Irish tax same as any other income that you receive.

You just add it to a tax return. You will have to do one for all your incomes in retirement where tax is not deducted at source eg state pension, private pensions, any other income. For a lot of people it might be the first time doing one if all pre retirement income is PAYE and they don't have anything like health expenses etc to claim tax relief on.

You don't need a UK passport or UK bank account to receive a UK pension.

Neither of those make you UK resident for tax either.
