Looking for advice on the advantages of changing to a diesel car,no newer than a 00 reg though.I do approx 600-700 miles a week.I was told I would get 600 miles average on a tank of diesel(1.8L or above) but then I was told most large diesel have 70L tanks where as my petrol car only has 55L capacity, hence the savins are not as much.Looks like you'll get 10-12 miles more per gallon with diesel....and the engine lasts much longer i.e 100K on a diesel is nothing or so I'm told!

The question of miles per tank is absolutely irrelevant. You'll need to work it out in terms of miles per euro. Keep in mind that diesel is now dearer than petrol, and I understand that diesel engines require more frequent servicing than petrol.
