Hi, hoping someone has some good advice!! In this lovely cold weather the waste (condensate) pipe on my gas boiler keeps freezing, it runs along an outside wall, about 2 1/2 meters up so is a complete pain to defrost. Got the pipe defrosted last night and the heating up and running again only for it to promptly freeze again overnight!! My question is, will insulation be enough to stop this from recurring, what type should I be using, and can I do this myself or would I need to get a professional in?
Secondly, the pipe from the boiler runs under my bathroom floor, is there any reason why this couldn't be plumbed into my bathroom waste, instead of being outside and exposed to the elements? My bathroom and heating were installed at the same time, so if this is possible it seems silly not to have done this at the time...
Thanks in advance!! btw, tried to phone my usual plumber, but his number is continually engaged!!
