Hope my title is ok I'm not sure how best to word it.
My husband received one of these to complete. As far as I am aware we are not jointly assessed for tax purposes as neither of us have specially requested that we should be. We married in 2006 and we do on all relevant forms list each other so unless this generates a joint assessment I think we are still separate for this purpose. We both pay high band tax so I don't know if there is a benefit to joint assessment.
Is there a way to check this easily or do we have to ring the office?
When it comes to medical receipts I look after all of these as our health insurance is in my name via my employer therefore I make the Med1 claim for the family.
Does he need to include this information in the form 12 or is it ok to leave it out as it was all through my name?
I also claimed illness benefit for a few days as it is required by my employer. The claim is paid directly to them as they pay me when on leave.
Does this need to be entered in the spouse column?
Final one! Our main savings account is in my name as I do the main household budget. It was easier to open it online in one name then to open a joint one. Dirt is deducted from the interest. I also purchased a state savings bond in my name but with our sons savings in the year.
Do both of these need to be included?
Sorry for all the questions and the long post but its the most confusing form and as we are both straight forward PAYE workers with no additional income (other than the tiny bit of interest on our savings!) we're not used to the revenues procedures.
