Form 12/registered for income tax confusion!

I am a full time PAYE employee, with rental income as well which I declare on a form 12 every year. I filed my form 12 for 2015 a couple of weeks ago, together with a cheque as usual. Cheque was cashed by Revenue straight away.

Yesterday, I received a letter from Revenue stating that I have registered for income tax and need to pay and file electronically. I rang them to query this and the status of the form 12, and they told me that I have to do a form 11 on ROS as I have gone above the €3174 limit.

Anyway, waiting for me at home today was another letter from Revenue, containing a Notice of Assessment for 2015. Totally confused now as to whether I have to do a form 11 for 2015 now or not. Can anyone shed any light? Also, there was no mention on the NOA of the payment I have already made, which the person I spoke to today acknowledged was on their system.

I suspect the notice for assessment was just bad timing and was sent electronically. Request a form 21 and see if they have you reconciled.
