Form 11. PAYE Tax deducted q.230

My P60, Section B has three numbers on it.

a. Total net tax deducted in above year (including tax deducted by previous employer(s), if any)
b. Tax in respect of previous employements(s) is any in above year
c. Net Tax deducted (J7)/refunded (H9) in this period of employement.

The figures are;
a - 15,000
b - 9,000
c - [J7] 5,000

Tax Form 11, Question 230 says
"Total of all PAYE Tax deducted per P60(s) / P45(s)"

and no where can I find information on how to correlate these figures. The help guide says pretty much the same thing and is useless. Do I add all these figures together (tax man owes ME 9k then) or just figure a (I owe tax man about 4k)

Makes no sense. Really appreciate any help on this matter. Am so stressed out, but who isn't this time of year?

Mr Clue Less.

you should put the figure in A as this is the total amount of PAYE that you have paid. At the same time the totals of B & C should total A. Your figures dont seem to correspond. If A = total PAYE deducted during the year, B = PAYE deducted from previous employments and C = PAYE deducted from your current employment, therefore B & C have to = A

your total PAYE deducted of €15000 will be taken into account when they access all your income declared on your Form11

Thanks Ludi

I was just rounding the figures down. I do think A = B + C. This makes sense now.
So looks like I owe the tax man money :(

No not necessarily so. It just depends on your income. If the wages department in your job are doing their job right your deductions from your PAYE work should be spot on. If you have additional income other than PAYE you could be liable for tax on this. Depends on your credits as well. I take it from the amount of your PAYE deductions that your paying PAYE at 41%. This is the rate you would pay on any additional income less deductions.

The one thing you should also do is check your tax cert/bands cert for 2009 to see breakup of bands and credits- Cross check to tax return that you are claiming them all.

Eg. Sometimes people forget to tick pay creit box if entitled to it.

May also have to include income levy information on tax return- should have got the cert with any p45 and p60 to do with work in 2009

Ludi / Papervalue - thanks for the follow up guys.

I clicked the; Personal tax credit (self and spouse) and this took 3600 off what I owed. As Ludi suggested, we do have foreign/other earnings which we need to pay tax on.

Thanks again guys.
