I am looking for some help here, Recently my car dies when I approach a junction, for example when I clutch and slow down the engine dies with the battery light on. I then turn the key and it starts straight away. The alternator was changed out about 6 months ago along with a new battery.
Similar thing happened recently on my Opel Zafira. Over the course of two or three days, it got steadily worse. Mechanic thought it might be a dirty carburettor, but in the end it needed a replacement 'engine membrane' (whatever that is!), which stopped it happening - so far, anyway. The part cost about €300.
I have now been told that it could be the EGR valve, Could anyone shed some light on this. How much would I expect to pay for the valve and is it expensive to buy?
