Floor Sanding query

Approx 5 yrs back i sanded a bedroom floor. A mate recommended that I wax the floor and subsequently varnish it with clear varnish... The varnish /wax now seems to be peeling off this floor so in urgent need of repair. One year later i completed the other rooms with varnish only and these are still perfect so need to get the wax/varnish off the first floor

Any recommendations on type of sander to use... belt sander or vibratory sander? Thanks in advance for response

You could sand it off or you could use chemical strippers to get it off (wouldn't be my choice).
