Flat Rate Expenses credit

Just a quick question. My girlfriend is currently trying to reclaim for service charges, trade union exps, etc. for the past 4yrs. She's a nurse. Her certificate of tax credits shows a Flat Rate Expenses credit. I presume that this covers her uniforms (that she supplies and launders herself) and so would not be due a refund here?

Finally, there is a Service Charges credit on the cert too of approx E80 I think. I presume this covers her bins and so is not due a credit here either? Or is it a work thing?

Thanks

The flat rate expenses would indeed be her uniform credit. However do not assume Revenue have it right. I have seen wrong amounts on the certs. The actual FR credits for nurses supplying & laundering own unifotms is €733 for 2009, 2008, 2007 & 2006. See Revenue guide .

The Service charge credit of €80 reflects refuse of €400 ( 400 @ 20% = 80 ) so same applies. CHeck that what was granted agrees with what actually paid. They go one year behind by the way, so relief in 2009 is for what was paid in 2008.

The previous rate was €572 up to 2005 and I've seen a few cases where that never changed to the new rate.

Finally got all certificates of tax credits for the 4yrs to Dec 09.

There is a flat rate expenses credit on each for E121. In addition to the usual personal and PAYE credits. These are the standard ones - they're the same as the ones on my cert.

According to the Revenue site the flat rate exp for her particular role (nurse manager who buys and launders her own uniforn) should be E733 pa.

Does this mean she's due approx E600 X 4 in a refund??

Thanks again.
