Flat Rate Expense Credit - Buying a PC

I believe there is an annual flat rate expense credit of €402 available to teachers for the purchase of a PC? Revenue.ie were not very helpful with this and sent me on a telephone number to call for more info but it's always engaged - 1890333425.

Does anyone know where I can get more info and relevant forms for this? Thanks

I don't think that this allowance is specific to the purchase of PCs but to the purchase of any work related items (or maybe just claimable even if there are no purchases made?). See [broken link removed] to allowable expenses for certain employments.

Does a tax credit of €402 mean that an additional €402 of your income will be exempt from tax? So if you're paying at the higher rate then you'll save 42% of €402?

According to Tommy's summary the credits are granted at the individual's marginal rate which would mean that the credit of €402 would be worth €168.84 to a high rate taxpayer and €80.40 to a standard rate taxpayer. Your union may be able to confirm this.
