I have been advised that in Public Service that a person with over 20 years service would not be granted professional years (retired on ill health grounds) due to the fact that he was on a fixed term contract.
It is my understanding that an EU law was passed some time ago which states that Fixed term contract staff have to be treated in exactly the same manner as Permanent employees.
I would welcome comments and advice on this.
