I am just looking for advice for my sister regarding her fixed term rate on her mortgage. The rate is 5.33% for 5years, she is only 6months into the term. But with the rate cuts here and there she wanted to know what to do. She asked the bank what the break out fee is and was told nearly €1500 and was offered only 4.88% variable rate. The question is should she break out? the variable rate on offer seems high because she only borrowed €180k, the house was bought for €190k.
