fitting solid oak floor

Just wondering if anyone has an idea of the current price per square yard to fit a solid oak floor. Have looked up previous posts on this but they are going back to 2006, so just wondering what the current rate is. I have 73 square yards to be fitted, and was quoted €60 a sqaure yard for fitting, thought that this was excessive considering its nearly more than I paid for the floor, but maybe I'm wrong!

Hi

Yes that is too much.

A friend recently had flooring laid for €20 sq yard, and I am having 50 sq metres of engineered oak laid for €1000 (mates rates, he’s doing a load more work for me as well). I called a local firm and they confirmed €20 sqm is about right to “float” a floor, but it would cost more if battening is required to attach the boards to.

There is also the cost of removing and re-attaching skirtings and doors too, which will bump the price up but not by that much.

I just had floors laid (laminate, cause I have doggies) and the guy told me that he charges €17 per sq yard to lay a solid floor.

HTH :)
