Fitting cost for wooden floor?

Does anyone know how much per square foot it costs to lay a wooden floor?

It's a solid wood floor that is to be laid on wooden joists so it needs to have stuff(??) underneath, ply or whatever?? I'm also having the floor insulated underneath but that's a separate cost.

I'm just going through one quotation I've got from a builder (getting lots of other stuff done) and he's charging €40 per square foot to lay the wooden floor. That seems steep to me but it's the first quotation I've gotten back so I could be being unrealistic.
 

Are ya sure that's per square foot? Thats 360 per square yard??

We're paying €17 per sq yd but our carpenter is doing all 2nd fix so perhaps that's why it's cheaper.
 
hi melo, the price is around what chippie told you, but make sure your builder fits every thing properly. i had to go to call to a house last month where the builder had fitted ply board and lay'ed the floor on top. he never checked for moisture levels in the joists and when he layed the floor, he didn't leave enough expansion around the edge
 
I want an Oak in 6" boards / 150mm and I have been told by a couple of carpenters to use an Engineered board for this width. Got a great price from McMahons for the floor. Price includes glue (which one company had quoted me €1100 for!) although we won't be using glue but a good price none the less.
