Fireplaces - marble / granite

I'm installing a stove and have been advised to get a marble or granite fireplace - timber surrounds not good with the heat coming from a stove. Lowest quote is 1200 so far and it's a plain simple one and i don't particularly like it - its a cream surround with black heart and black insert behind the stove. This is in Sligo. Does any one know if these are the prices out there for these types of fire place and/ or any good places to go when looking for fire places.

For a stone fireplace that doesn't sound too high. We are getting a pretty ornate fp and have been quoted up to E7k. Eventually got one in Cork for E3k.

Just be careful to make sure its sealed as a stove could makr cream stone which tends to be porous.
